Welcome to my home page! I created this website to share some of my photos and travel stories with friends and family around the world. I have to admit that it's been a long time since I've updated the website so the content is several years old. As of February 2010, I am now happily married (to Anne Egan) with two beautiful children (Malcolm - almost 4 years old, and Rebecca - 10 months old). We live in Georgetown (Halton Hills) which is about a half-hour drive from my old stomping grounds in Mississauga. I'm a truck owner-operator and have been driving big rigs since 2002. You can find much newer photos on my Facebook profile if you're a member.
I'm hoping to update the website content soon. Please excuse the fact that the page formatting and look may not be consistant from one section to another as I was experimenting with different looks the last time I tinkered with it.
NOTE: Due to changes in the hosting company's server software, most of the hyperlinks have been rendered inoperable and the photos have been lost. I've repaired the hyperlinks and restored the thumbnail images on this page but I haven't fixed them on all the other pages yet. If you are trying to click a link and it doesn't work, just add "www." into the address.
For example, if the link shows as: http://darragh.egan.on.ca/photography/
you would need to change it to: http://www.darragh.egan.on.ca/photography/ in your browser's address bar for it to work.
The photography
section has an assortment of photos that I've taken over the years.
Subjects include landscapes, wildlife, sunsets, and nature photography.
There are hundreds more that have yet to be scanned and uploaded to the
website. You won't find any family snapshots here, at least not yet. You'll need to go to my Facebook page for that.
The travel
section has photos and stories from some of my trips. I've been
to dozens of countries on five continents but you'll only find a few
snippets here. There is a lot more to be added if I ever get around to it.
My 2001 solo cycling trip across Canada is listed in a separate cycling
section. I cycled over 11,000 km following a northerly route which
traversed portions of all ten provinces, the Yukon and Northwest
territories, and even a bit of Alaska. This section was left unfinished
for a long time but I will be adding to it soon.
The mountain climbing
section shows highlights of the summits I have climbed around the world
including Hawaii, Mexico, and Ecuador. I will be adding photos of the
summits I climbed in Indonesia soon.
The motorcycle
section is dedicated to my 1985 Yamaha XJ700 Maxim. I've also got
photos of my summer 2000 cross-country motorcycle trip. I had a blast
logging 10,000 km across the central plains and into the rocky
mountains. I experienced everything from blazing hot sun to freezing
hailstorms. Unfortunately, the motorcycle is now collecting dust. Between work and family, there's no time left for that hobby.
You can find some jokes and miscellaneous items of amusement in my humour section.
Finally, you can go to my Short Stories to read some original tales written by yours truly. And don't forget to e-mail me with any comments or criticism.
